Join Rock Corps.

Rock Corps works around a simple concept, "You've got to give to get." In this case, Give four hours of volunteer work, and get a ticket to a concert. There are some great bands on tour this summer and tickets can be hard to get and expensive. Why not join Rock Corps and do some good for your community and for your self? Visit to learn more, find your volunteer opportunity, and get your concert ticket.

Rock Corps hasn't spread all over the US yet, so contact Rock Corps at or 1 (888) ROCK - 889 to get it started in your area. Rock on! (Thanks Kwadjo!)

I think that this is an interesting idea. As much as I would like for people to be intrinsically motivated to volunteer in their communities, this is a great way to get more participation by people that need a little extra boost. And it is definitely a win-win. The radio sponsors probably fund the concerts/free tickets and they get the PR benefits of volunteer and community support. Volunteers get a good time in exchange for their work, and the charities and causes are the real winners b/c hopefully they will get some more publicity and much needed labor.

I thought it was pretty cool too, Sunny. I don't know anyone who's done it yet. If you've joined Rock Corps, please leave a comment and let us know how you enjoyed it.

Thanks for stopping by, Sunny. I hope you'll visit again soon, and please spread the word.

Hey Karama - it's been a couple of weeks since I looked into your site, so I hadn't seen your follow-up comment until now. I wish that Rock Corp had some events in Austin where I live - but their closest location is in Houston. They will probably continue to grow though, so checking back would be a good idea.

One thing that I always participate in, which is distinctively "Austin" is the Bob Marley Festival. All attendees are asked to bring can goods for the Capital Area Food Bank, and admission profits also go to the charity - another way to do something good for the community, have fun, and the cause gets tons of publicity.

Hi Sunny,

Hopefully Rock Corps will make it to Austin soon. There's certainly a great music scene there. Have fun at the Marley Fest!
